Night Listeners - How did we get here? 100 episodes. 100 times I have setup my laptop to record/edit a show usually the morning of the first broadcast. I remember thinking several times, "It's midnight and I have to leave for the airport by 3:30AM. I still have to record the show." IBT has never about making money, it has been about keeping this music alive. The only way to keep music alive is to keep forever circulating. Back in the day it was about trading tapes and CDrs, now its about sharing digital files and broadcasting these tunes as much as possible. There is no reason to keep this music around except to preserve Iowa's history in DIY and alternative culture and really that is enough. Iowa Basement Tapes has its own archive of Iowa music. Night Listeners - It's almost Thanksgiving! I don't really know what counts as "Thanksgiving" tunes for this show. Some first time plays include The Meanies from Iowa City, The Rockers from Sioux City, and Brad Morgan from Manning (I think he is a newbie). Night Listeners - It has been one year since Iowa Basement Tapes hit the airwaves. The first show aired July 5th 2018 at 9PM on 98.9 FM KFMG - Des Moines. I know most of you who listen to this show now probably won't be listening tonight as it is the 4th of July (by the way HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!). I do this show every week no matter what.
